Brainspotting Therapy
Can Brainspotting help me process trauma?
Brainspotting therapy offers a cutting-edge approach to healing by helping clients access their innate capacity for processing and releasing trauma, negative emotions, and limiting beliefs. Developed based on the idea that where we look affects how we feel, brainspotting uses the visual field to locate eye positions that activate unprocessed trauma in the brain. By focusing on these "brainspots" while in a supported therapeutic environment, clients can experience deep emotional healing and lasting relief from distressing symptoms. If you're seeking a powerful and effective therapy to address unresolved issues and achieve personal growth, brainspotting therapy may be the solution you've been looking for.
“Where you look affects how you feel.”
What can I expect during brainspotting sessions?
During brainspotting sessions, you can expect to work closely with me while I guide you to identify your "brainspots," which are eye positions related to the stored trauma or emotional activation in the brain. By focusing on these specific spots while recalling a distressing experience, you can access and process deep-seated emotions and memories. Through this process, clients often experience significant relief, emotional release, and a reduction in symptoms related to their trauma, and much more quickly than with traditional talk therapy. Over time, clients can expect to develop a greater sense of self-awareness, emotional regulation, and a more profound understanding of their inner world.
What if I’m not ready to dive that deeply into a traumatic memory?
That’s okay! Remember, your brain is your greatest protector and is designed to keep you safe. That’s why some memories remain out of focus and it feels like they are locked away deep inside your brain. You will not process any trauma in brainspotting until you are intuitively ready to face it. What some clients prefer about brainspotting over traditional talk therapy is that you do not have to process anything out loud. In fact, some of the most powerful and healing brainspotting sessions occur in total silence.
